Publications/Websites

As a community content specialist for the Sun-Times News Group, my responsibilities included web content management and design, reporting, journalism, editing, community outreach, web traffic monitoring, search engine optimization, photography, video coverage, and managing an online social media presence for fifteen community news websites. I developed strategic partnerships with local government officials and social program directors in order to develop comprehensive media coverage. My regular beats were in Lake County, but I also covered the rest of the North Shore on weekends. The sites were taken down during the Sun-Times bankruptcy, but the Facebook page is still online.

As a contractor, I worked with HS2 Solutions on a project to redesign, update, edit,  and port/create/manage content for more than 70 hospitals and medical centers nationwide. You can find examples here and here. I was also an Indexer for the massive Grainger catalogue and website.

Cinescape/Mania – I wrote extensively for the world’s most-read sci-fi magazine and website, including articles, reviews, interviews and two weekly columns.cinescapeaz

Now Playing – I wrote quite a bit for this short-lived but lively spinoff from Computer Games magazine as well.

Video Watchdog – I was an early contributor to this groundbreaking, award winning home video journal, including coverage of some rare and offbeat releases and a very early article about movies released on discs (years before DVD).

I have also contributed regularly to Playboy, the Chicago Reader, TimeOut Chicago, iF Magazine, TLA Video, Smug.com, and Coffee House Digest.
